• Alum writing team back with new feature film ‘The Double’

Longtime Baylor Proud readers need no introduction to 1991 Baylor graduates Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. The writers of 2 Fast 2 Furious, 3:10 to Yuma and Wanted are back with a new film, The Double, starring Richard Gere, Topher Grace, Martin Sheen and Stephen Moyer.

The film, which opens today, tells the tale of a retired CIA operative (Gere) and a young FBI agent (Grace) who team to solve the murder of a U.S. Senator. The Double is Brandt’s directorial debut; Haas also has a new role as a producer on the film.

The usual plot twist seems to be given away in the trailer, and reviews confirm that the reveal happens very early in the movie. But that’s only the beginning, as the film heads off into a convoluted series of twists, red herrings and other surprises that last right up to the end of the movie.

In a recent brief piece for the Wall Street Journal, Brandt explained how his experiences at Baylor launched him from being a business major into the world of film.

    Sic ’em, Michael and Derek!
