Bricks celebrate family’s long Baylor Line

Wandering Burleson Quad awhile back, it occurred to me that “That Good Old Baylor Line” was literally beneath my feet. Bricks engraved with the names of Baylor alumni and friends from across the decades cover the Sesquicentennial Walkway, often in long, long lines representing those big Baylor families — each their own “Baylor Line.”

Weldon Hicks, class of 1948, and his wife, Nona, class of 1946, (pictured here) started one of those loooong lines back in the early ’90s. What started as a Baylor Line of two quickly grew. More than 20 bricks later, the last of their grandkids, Ben Carter, BBA ’09, just took his place on the Hicks’ Baylor Line — a place that has been ready for him since elementary school. Five generations of Hicks family Bears show their pride on the Walkway!
