• Professor’s book examines “The Gospel According to U2”

Bono of U2With U2’s long-awaited new album releasing in the U.S. this week and the band playing on the Late Show with David Letterman all week, it seems that the band is everywhere in entertainment news this week. U2 released two albums while I was in college, yet it’s been over four years since their last CD came out in late 2004.

A couple of my very good friends in college were huge U2 fans, and a popular topic of conversation was trying to dive into the group’s lyrics to see “Are they really a Christian group?” Baylor professor Dr. Greg Garrett takes that conversation a step further in his upcoming book “We Get to Carry Each Other: The Gospel According to U2.” Garrett examines not only their songs, but the group’s rise over the past three decades and their involvement with causes ranging from AIDS activism to the crisis in Darfur.

The book is scheduled for release this July, but you can pre-order it here.

    Sic ’em, Dr. Garrett!
