• #BearsOfBaylor — “Are you a first-generation student?”

“I got a little notecard in the mail about the ‘First in Line’ program. I looked into it, and [it asked,] ‘Are you a first-generation student? Do you want to take classes during the summer and get used to it?’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s really cool, because I’m very passionate about first-generation students, and for the school I’m going to to have a program specifically for first-generation students, is amazing.’ Of all the other schools I applied to and got into, I’d never heard of anything like that. So right away, I was like ‘Baylor is meant to be. There’s no doubt about it.’

I didn’t go to orientation or Line Camp, but First in Line Summer Advantage was my orientation. I would say that was probably one of the best choices I could have made coming to Baylor, because we take two courses during the Summer II session, we meet with a lot of faculty and a lot of resources here at Baylor. I met some of my very closest friends in that program. … Just to hear the success stories of other people I’ve been in the program with, it brings me joy.”
