• ExxonMobil celebrates ‘Baylor Day’ — will your company help BU, too?

    "Baylor Day" at ExxonMobil

For years, ExxonMobil has supported Baylor — not only by hiring Baylor graduates, but by matching their donations back to the university. Last week, the ExxonMobil Foundation presented Baylor with a check for $340,575, bringing the company’s cumulative donations to more than $8.4 million — all the result of matching their employees’ already generous gifts.

To celebrate, ExxonMobil actually held a “Baylor Day” at their Houston campus last week. On hand were more than 100 members of the Baylor family, including President Ken Starr, Hankamer School of Business Dean Terry Maness and Engineering and Computer Science Dean Dennis O’Neal. The day included sessions and round table discussions with Baylor faculty, staff and alumni and ExxonMobil staff, and concluded with a Dr Pepper Hour, where the check was presented.

For many members of the Baylor family, the chance to see their donations to Baylor doubled or tripled by their employer is an opportunity they can’t pass up. ExxonMobil, for instance, matches its employees’ charitable donations at a 3:1 ratio, which meant about $113,000 in gifts from ExxonMobil employees in 2015 turned into almost half a million dollars to benefit Baylor students.

Record-setting fundraising in recent years just proves what we already knew — that the Baylor family is filled with givers. So if your company will make your gift go even further, why not take advantage of that to serve the Bears who are following in your footsteps?

Sic ’em, ExxonMobil and Bears everywhere!
