• On #GivingTuesday, remember your alma mater

    #BaylorGives

So we all gave thanks on Thursday — and then immediately our nation’s attention turned to shopping and deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. To help us refocus, in recent years many across the country have followed up by celebrating #GivingTuesday — a day to support worthy causes with a financial gift.

Throughout the day Tuesday, you’ll likely see messages online — particularly on social media — from nonprofits and other organizations asking for your support. As you weigh which organizations you’ll give to this year, be sure to remember Baylor in the mix.

Think back on what made your Baylor experience exceptional, and give thanks by paying it forward so that future generations can have the same experience. Or, if you want to give where the university could use it most, check out this year’s Christmas catalog.

There are countless areas and programs of the university worthy of support. Some programs open doors to the future (like student scholarships) and help build the Baylor community (like Line Camp and athletics); others help the university pursue academic success (from supporting faculty to bringing in exceptional guests). Still others serve those in need (like the Texas Hunger Initiative and the Baylor Autism Resource Clinic) and work to reach the world for Christ (such as student missions and the Global Mission Leadership Initiative).

The generosity of the Baylor family can be seen in churches, community organizations and ministries across the country. It is also clearly visible in the lives of our students, the facilities on our campus and the programs that equip students to serve a world in need. Remember — every gift counts, and makes a difference in the life of a student who is walking where you once walked.

    Sic ’em, Bears!
