• A sneak peek at Baylor’s Class of 2019

    Baylor Class of 2019 members

Every summer we take a look at some of the freshmen who will be joining the Baylor family come fall. Here’s your first look at some of the members of Baylor’s Class of 2019:

    * Mandeville, La., native Ryan Keller is one of just 141 students nationwide to be named a 2015 U.S. Presidential Scholar. The award — based on academics, leadership, citizenship and service — is fitting for Keller, a class valedictorian, church leader and Eagle Scout who plans to major in biology and neuroscience at Baylor.

    * Budding photographer Elizabeth Thorne was honored as a Texas Young Entrepreneur this spring by the National Federation of Independent Business. The Arlington, Texas, native launched her own photography business as a student at Arlington High School; not surprisingly, she will study photography and entrepreneurship at Baylor.

    * Robert Girdner is leaving behind both his twin (Kristi, who will attend Tarleton State) and the home they have known since age 5: Hendrick Home for Children in Abilene. A member of National Honor Society and his school’s band and orchestra, Robert will major in computer engineering.

    * Ana Maria Gallegos won’t have far to go when she packs up for college. The student council president at La Vega High School just outside Waco, Gallegos was also a state qualifier in band and vice president of the National Honor Society; she plans to study secondary education at Baylor.

    Sic ’em, Class of 2019!
