If you’ve ever tried to find a new home that fits your needs but remains in the same neighborhood, you know how tricky that can be. Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing, however, has navigated that difficult task — thanks largely to the generosity of the school’s longtime champion.

The university announced yesterday that Louise Herrington Ornelas has provided a lead gift that makes possible the purchase of a new home for Baylor nursing — and the school will have to move just 3/10 of a mile once the building has been renovated.

Last spring, the Baylor Board approved the purchase of a four-story, 100,000-square-foot facility located adjacent to the Baylor Health Care System’s flagship campus in Dallas. The site — previously owned by the Baptist General Convention of Texas and known as the “Baptist Building” — will now be the Louise Herrington Nursing School Building.
