• Baylor psych prof receives national teaching honor

    Dr. Roger Kirk

He’s a Baylor legend, Master Teacher, Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Neurosciences, and now, winner of the highest teaching honor given by the nation’s largest professional psychology organization.

Dr. Roger Kirk is the 2015 recipient of the American Psychological Association’s Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award, reserved for professors who have “a proven track record as an exceptional teacher of psychology.”

To folks at Baylor, that Kirk would be so honored is no surprise. Now in his 56th year teaching at Baylor (he joined the faculty back when Armstrong Browning Library was still considered new), Kirk is known for bending over backwards to teach his students.

“Dr. Kirk is tireless in working with students,” wrote Dr. Charles Weaver, BS ’84, chair of Baylor’s Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, in his nomination letter for Kirk. “Students enter his class with utmost respect for his accomplishments, but they leave with a genuine affection for him as well.”

    Sic ’em, Dr. Kirk!
