What does Baylor mean to you?
When people give to Baylor, they often include short notes explaining why they felt led to give. When you put the notes together, you start to get a sense of what this university means to the Baylor family — not just alumni, but parents, Waco residents, and other friends. Here’s just a sampling:
“I know my gift as a young alumnus isn’t much, but I’m proud to contribute what I can to my university. Sic ’em, Bears!” — Jonathan Martin, BBA ’13
“By God’s grace and with caring people, I finished Baylor in four years, no delays. I’ve been a registered nurse for 41 years, a nurse educator for 36 years, and retired from full-time work last academic year. I’ve been VERY blessed and want to have some small part in another’s educational experience.” — Dr. Thena Parrott, BSN ’72
“We are not alumni, but we have been most impressed with the environment Baylor has provided to our children — the quality of education, the leadership, and the Christian atmosphere. We have enjoyed getting to know Baylor, and look forward to a continued relationship in the future. Our daughter is a graduate, we have a son in his freshman year, and another on the way in a couple of years!” — Edward Denton, parent
“As an active duty member of the armed forces, I don’t have many opportunities to return to Waco. Last fall, I returned with my family for my first Baylor Homecoming since graduating 18 years ago and had a great weekend. I want to ensure those opportunities are available for years to come, and look forward to returning again in the near future.” — Lt. Cmdr. Mike McKelvey, BS ’95
“Baylor gave me the one thing that Christian education should give: Preparation for a life of work and service. I am forever grateful.” — Kyle Cox, BA ’81
“Having lived in Waco for 35 years, I’ve seen the positive effects that Baylor has on its students as they prepare to enter the world after college. More directly, I’ve had two of my sons receive degrees from Baylor, one from Truett Seminary, and can tell you that their experience with Baylor was life changing.” — Danny Webb, parent/Waco resident
“There is something absolutely magical about being a Bear. I am delighted to have the opportunity to help someone else pursue excellence and learn in such a fantastic environment and to fling a little green and gold afar now that I have the chance.” — Savannah Rudkin, BA ’13
“While I did not attend Baylor University, most of my friends did. … I have been amazed by the loyalty and closeness of its alumni. The Baylor Nation has embraced me as one of their own, and I really feel welcomed by all when I am on campus or at any other event. I come from humble beginnings, but sharing my hard-earned money with a great institution that instills family values and morals to its students is well worth it.” — Adrian Delgado, Brownsville, Texas
“My sweet daughter discovered Baylor and decided that was the place for her. My wife and I could not be happier. The Baylor Bear family has been awesome. I can truly say she could not have made a better choice. Thank you for being there for my baby girl. Thank you, Baylor, for what you stand for.” — Percy Causey, parent
