Baylor Facebook tops 140,000 followers
Sometime over the past weekend, Baylor’s official Facebook page welcomed its 140,000th follower — one of just 45 colleges and universities nationwide to have topped that mark.
Considering that Baylor only has about 165,000 living alumni, such a Facebook following indicates that a tremendous percentage of the Baylor family wants to stay connected to the university. Other year-end numbers bear that out:
- The Baylor Proud blog (the one you’re reading right now) registered more than 3.5 million page views over the past year, and the Baylor Proud email now goes out every week or two to upwards of 110,000 Bears. (If you’re not getting the email, you can sign up here.)
- Baylor Magazine is mailed out quarterly to 145,000 homes. (You can sign up for that here.)
- Giving to the university is at an all-time high, making efforts like McLane Stadium and The President’s Scholarship Initiative possible.
- Over the last 12 months, more than 16,000 Bears attended a total of almost 1,000 Baylor Alumni Network events in 170 different cities.
Getting back to Facebook, one of the great things about such social media platforms is that they allow for two-way communication. In the last year, for instance, Baylor fans have left more than 22,000 comments on the official Facebook page, and another 6,000 comments on Baylor Instagram photos. On Twitter, Bears have addressed or mentioned @Baylor 10,000 times; @BaylorProud adds another 5,000 mentions to the mix.
Thanks for your engagement, Baylor family. We’re glad you like hearing from us, and we love hearing from you!
Sic ’em, Bears!
