Diadeloso 2014: Greetings from Dia

In 1932, Baylor students celebrated the first “All University Day” — a break from classes late in the spring. The tradition changed names several times over the years, eventually settling on Diadeloso — “the Day of the Bear”  — in 1966, creating a truly unique Baylor holiday.

From a massive Zumba workout on Fountain Mall early Thursday morning on through the final notes of the NEEDTOBREATHE concert Thursday night, Diadeloso 2014 was a success. Live music and dance performances entertained thousands of students throughout the day in the heart of campus. Others participated in competitions, from the traditional tug-of-war to a newly added foam run, while still more enjoyed roller skating in the SUB and sampling the food trucks on Fountain Mall.

Congrats to Baylor Chamber for putting on another successful event. You might not know that it’s a student group that leads the way in hosting not only Diadeloso, but also Family Weekend, Homecoming and Spring Premiere, in addition to organizing the Baylor Line and overseeing the live bear mascots. “Anything for Baylor,” indeed.
