Men’s basketball earns 4th NCAA tourney selection in 7 years
Eight Baylor head coaches combined to earn four NCAA tournament selections between 1946 (when the Bears received their first selection) and 2003 (when Scott Drew was hired). Drew’s Bears have now matched that total in just the past seven seasons, following their selection to the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Sunday.

Ranked No. 24 overall by the selection committee (and 23rd in this week’s AP poll), the Bears are headed to nearby San Antonio as a No. 6 seed; there, they will face Nebraska in the first round on Friday (11:40 a.m. on truTV). The winner of that game will face either Creighton or Louisiana-Lafayette in the next round.

Baylor enters the tournament on a roll, having won 10 of its last 12 games, including a run to the Big 12 tournament championship game (the Bears’ third title game appearance in six seasons). On top of that, Drew’s Bears have the nation’s best postseason winning percentage over the past five years; Baylor has gone 15-3 since 2009, resulting in two NCAA Elite Eight showings and an NIT championship.
