• Bears lead Big 12 with 6 players at 2014 NFL Combine

Baylor at the 2014 NFL Combine

A program-record six Bears will spend the next week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, working out in front of dozens of NFL coaches and front office personnel at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine.

The six Baylor invitees — safety Ahmad Dixon, cornerback Demetri Goodson (BSED ’13), tight end Jordan Najvar (BBA ’13), wide receiver Tevin Reese, offensive lineman Cyril Richardson (BSED ’13) and running back Lache Seastrunk — are the most of any school in the Big 12 or in Texas, and tied for sixth-most in the country. In the last three years, only Oklahoma has had more players invited to the combine than Baylor among Big 12 schools.

CBSSports.com has Dixon as the No. 4 strong safety available in the draft, Richardson as the No. 4 offensive guard, and Seastrunk as the No. 7 running back, with all three projected to be drafted in the first four rounds. They’ll look to join such former Baylor standouts as Robert Griffin III (2012 rookie of the year), Josh Gordon (the NFL’s leader in receiving yards last season) and Kendall Wright (top 20 in both receptions and receiving yards) in the NFL.

Oh, and the six Bears won’t be the only Baylor representatives at the combine. Dr. Jon Ellis, a Baylor alum and the Bears’ team physician, is among a handful of medical staffers invited to the combine this year. Ellis, BA ’89, played football at Baylor under head coach Grant Teaff and is a co-founder of Waco’s Southwest Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.

Sic ’em, Bears, at the NFL Combine!
