• Remembering the PBS special ‘Christmas at Baylor,’ a decade later

Ten years ago this month, much of the nation celebrated the holiday season along with Baylor, as PBS stations around the country aired “Christmas at Baylor,” an hour-long special that highlighted the music of the season as performed by student choirs and musicians from Baylor’s School of Music.

More than 6 million viewers tuned in nationwide during that first Christmas season, and countless more have seen it through repeated airings in various cities over the past decade. Shot in HD during the format’s early days, the producers filmed performances across the Baylor campus, including Armstrong Browning Library, Jones Concert Hall and the Piper Great Hall at Truett Seminary.

If you’re lucky, your local PBS station might be airing “Christmas at Baylor” sometime this month, or you might be able to find a VHS or DVD copy on eBay. If not, enjoy the five-minute excerpt from the production embedded above.
