• ‘Star, Circle, Baylor’ teaches shapes and BU traditions to our littlest Bears

Star, Circle, BaylorThree years ago, Baylor Press began helping our Future Bears learn the alphabet with B is for Baylor. Last fall, they moved on to numbers with 1 2 3 Baylor.

This fall, they’re helping our littlest Bears learn their shapes with “Star, Circle, Baylor: A Little Bear Shapes Book.” Written and illustrated by Baylor alum Matt Wiede, BFA ’02 (who also did 1 2 3 Baylor), the 16-page board book helps teach babies and toddlers about their shapes through Baylor traditions and objects.

The book is just the latest from Baylor Press’ Big Bear Books label, joining not only the kids books mentioned above but also coffee table books like The History of Baylor Sports and Baylor – A Legacy of Spirit, Tradition, Beauty. Other popular titles include Baylor at Independence, a detailed history of the university’s earliest years; The Immortal Ten, a definitive account of the 1927 tragedy and its legacy; and a trio of biographies of Baylor’s founders, James Huckins, William Tryon and Judge R.E.B. Baylor.

Each of these books (and more) are available online from Baylor Press (use the links above) as well as sites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Or if you’re in Waco, stop by the Baylor Bookstore, which will be open extended hours this weekend: 8 a.m. to midnight on Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

    Sic ’em, Baylor books!
