Leaders across the Baylor family speak out in favor of the Transition Agreement
Two days from now, Baylor Alumni Association members will vote on whether or not to accept the Transition Agreement negotiated over the past year by university officials and the BAA’s elected leaders. All along, President Ken Starr and others have described the values of forgetting past feuds and coming together as one Baylor family — and he’s not alone in feeling that way.
On Tuesday, the Baylor Alumni Association Board of Directors voted overwhelmingly in support of the agreement — in favor of a new model for The Baylor Line magazine, in favor of an Alumni Advisory Board within the university and a non-voting representative on the Board of Regents, and in favor of combining the BAA’s traditions with the Baylor Alumni Network’s resources and reach. (Click here to read more on the agreement, and click here to read why the old model no longer serves Baylor alumni well.)
The BAA’s board is only the latest group to publicly support the agreement. You can see a complete list here that, in addition to Judge Starr, the BAA board, and elected BAA leaders, also includes the university’s Board, senior administration, Faculty Senate, Staff Council and Student Senate, not to mention well-respected individual voices (including a host of permanent class officers and former student government officers from the classes of 1956 to 2013).

These voices are important to the conversation, but in the end, the final decision will come down to the vote this Saturday. Unfortunately, the vote is not open to all alumni; BAA bylaws allow only members who are paid up on their dues — and who can make it to Waco Hall between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 7. — to participate in the vote.
If you fit those requirements, we urge you to join the litany of others who stand with Judge Starr, our faculty and our students and #VoteYes this Saturday.
Sic ’em, Baylor family!
