• Parents Network crosses the country connecting incoming students

Send-Off PartyAre you thinking about 2017 yet? The Baylor Parents Network is.

More specifically, they’re thinking about Baylor’s incoming Class of 2017 as they organize Summer Send-Off parties from coast to coast to introduce new students and their families to fellow incoming Bears from their communities. Parents and Baylor supporters open up their homes and volunteer their time to host the parties.

“The send-off party is the start of a great Baylor relationship,” says Sharon Ramsey, co-president of the West Houston Chapter of the Parents Network and a send-off party host. “Students meet fellow incoming students, parents can connect, and new Bears come to Baylor with friendships already started.”

Last year, the Parents Network (formerly known as the Parents League) hosted 65 parties for a total of 3,840 students and parents, spread across 20 states (plus Washington, D.C.).

This year, Director Judy Maggard and her staff are organizing and attending dozens more, canvassing the nation to assist with the parties. At last count, 53 parties were already set, with over a dozen more in the works — a pace that could reach record numbers of incoming Baylor families. In addition to getting to know future classmates and learning more about Baylor at a send-off party, you never know who you might meet when you attend.
