• East Village construction crew honored with DP floats and service of appreciation

As a “thank you” to the men and women who have worked so hard to make the new East Village Residential Community a reality, Baylor held a special Dr Pepper Hour of sorts last week right there in the new facility’s courtyard. The event included Dr Pepper floats for the construction workers and a brief service of “thanks” led by Dr. Kevin Jackson and Jeff Doyle from Student Life and Chaplain Burt Burleson.

    "Peppered with thanks"

After 18 months of construction, East Village will open next month to its first 700 student residents as Baylor’s third new residential complex in the past decade, following North Village in 2004 and Brooks Village in 2007. The two four-story buildings of East Village feature a variety of living spaces, from semi-suites to apartment-style living for students from freshmen to seniors, plus study and classroom spaces, student lounge areas, academic suites for five faculty in each building, and apartments for a faculty master, resident chaplain and other staff members.

A third building, the two-story East Village Dining Commons, will accommodate more than 500 students for meals on the east side of campus and will feature a variety of seating options, including outdoor terrace dining and two private dining rooms, exhibition-style service and retail space for a bakery, Red Mango yogurt and a convenience store.

Sic ’em, everyone who made East Village a reality!
