• Alum named one of top ’25 Under 35′ in the newspaper industry

Claire St. AmantPeople Newspapers assistant managing editor Claire St. Amant’s resume is impressive for a 26-year-old: Phi Beta Kappa honoree. Graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Lariat editor. Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine.

Now St. Amant can add one more line to her resume. The 2008 Baylor graduate was named one of the newspaper industry’s top “25 Under 35” by Editor & Publisher, the nation’s oldest journal covering the world of newspapers.

After returning to the U.S. in 2010 from her stint with the Peace Corps in Ukraine, St. Amant went to work as a staff writer for People Newspapers in Dallas, an affiliate of D Magazine. Barely a year later, she was promoted to assistant managing editor. In her work, Editor & Publisher recognized St. Amant’s ability to find trends or interesting details among the mundane.

In addition to her writing for People Newspapers, St. Amant has also been published in the Wall Street Journal, Houston Chronicle and The New York Times Magazine Online, and her October 2011 cover story for D Magazine on a sex scandal at a private school in Dallas was shared with thousands of readers around the world by longform journalism sites like Byliner.com and Longform.org.

    Sic ’em, Claire!
