• Baylor alum settling in on the PGA Tour

Jimmy WalkerCongratulations are in order for former Baylor men’s golf all-American Jimmy Walker, now a veteran on the PGA Tour. Walker tied Sergio Garcia for fourth at the Northern Trust Open over the weekend, finishing in the top 10 for the third time in six events in 2012.

After earning all-Big 12 honors all four years at Baylor, Walker turned pro in 2001 and was named Nationwide Tour Player of the Year in 2004, earning his PGA Tour card in the process. A difficult neck injury bothered him after that, however, and Walker struggled to regain his form for a couple of years.

Since things began to come back together again in 2008, he has improved his place in the FedEx Cup every year, improving from 192nd in 2008 all the way to No. 50 in 2011. Through the first month and a half of 2012, Walker ranks 21st in the Cup race and 17th among PGA Tour money leaders for the year.
