• New dean to welcome nursing students back from break

Dr. Shelley ConroyBaylor nursing students returning to campus next week will be greeted by a new face.

Dr. Shelley Conroy was named as the new dean of Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) in November and began her new role effective Jan. 1. Conroy comes to Baylor from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga., where she was dean, professor and a member of the graduate faculty of the College of Health Professions.

Conroy’s background also includes previous stints as dean and/or professor in Utah, Virginia and Florida. Before moving into education, she worked in hospital administration in Florida. A double graduate of Virginia Commonwealth (BS in nursing and MS in maternal-infant nursing) and with a doctorate from Central Florida, Conroy has served as a gubernatorial appointment to the Virginia Board of Nursing and as both president and chair of the Committee of the Joint Boards of Nursing and Medicine.

Conroy follows Dr. Judy Wright Lott as dean of LHSON; Lott stepped down as dean last February to return to full-time teaching and research after more than eight years leading the school.

    Sic ’em, Dr. Conroy!
