• Baylor soccer enters final weekend tied for Big 12 lead

Dana LarsenWith all the attention Baylor football has (deservedly) received this fall, it’s actually a different Baylor futbol squad that is challenging for a Big 12 title.

Baylor soccer is tied for the Big 12 Conference lead with No. 2-ranked Oklahoma State entering the final weekend. Head coach Marci Jobson’s Bears are 13-2-2 on the season (4-1-1 in Big 12 play) and ranked No. 16 in the NCAA’s latest RPI figures.

Baylor’s success has been built on a stout defense and an offense that’s been good enough. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Seelhorst ranks 13th nationally in goals-against average, allowing barely half a goal per game. In fact, the Bears’ leading scorer, junior Dana Larsen (pictured), scores more goals per game by herself than Seelhorst allows.

Baylor is home this weekend for the team’s final two regular season matches of the year, hosting Oklahoma State and then Oklahoma (6-10, 1-4 Big 12) Friday and Sunday, respectively. It’s not an exaggeration to say these are the biggest games the program has hosted in close to 15 years, and a great home crowd could help significantly.

Against the Cowgirls, a “Friday Night Family Four Pack” offers fans four tickets, four hot dogs and four Dr Peppers for just $20; the first 200 fans that night will also receive custom-designed Baylor soccer scarves. Sunday, all children under 12 get in free. So turn out and support your Bears as they aim for the Big 12 championship!

    Sic ’em, Baylor soccer!
