• Business students receive rare honor of repeat visit with Warren Buffett

Baylor student with Warren BuffettGroups of business school students from across the globe apply each year for the honor of meeting with multibillionaire investor Warren Buffett, the world’s third-richest man. It’s a rare honor to be selected — and an even more unusual recognition to be invited back two years in a row. But that’s just the distinction bestowed upon students in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business a couple of weeks ago.

Perhaps Buffett was impressed that last year’s group was one of a very few to include not only MBA candidates but also undergraduate students. Perhaps it was the handmade thank you cards the students sent him after the visit last spring. Or perhaps it was just the way Baylor’s students handled themselves in front of such a distinguished businessman. (He did seem to enjoy learning the “sic ’em” sign last year.)

Regardless, a group of seven Baylor undergraduates, seven MBA students and six members of Baylor’s Executive MBA program joined students from MIT, Rice, Kansas State, Northwestern, Arizona and Nanjing University in China in meeting with Buffett in his hometown of Omaha, Neb., March 31-April 1. The group received a tour of two of his businesses, participated in a Q&A session with Buffett, then enjoyed lunch with him at his favorite restaurant. (To give you an idea of what this experience is worth, last year when lunch with Buffett was auctioned for charity, the winning bidder paid $2.6 million for the privilege.)

Just one more example of the unique opportunities Baylor students receive.

    Sic ’em, Baylor business students!
