• Dunn sets Baylor men’s basketball career scoring record

LaceDarius DunnThis might give you a sense of how long Terry Teagle held the Baylor men’s basketball career scoring record: When Teagle took over the record from Vinnie Johnson in 1982, it would be another five years before LaceDarius Dunn was even born.

Dunn now holds the title, having broken Teagle’s longstanding Baylor record Tuesday night. With five regular season games left to go, Dunn needs just 62 points to also break the Big 12 Conference’s career scoring mark, currently held by Texas Tech’s Andre Emmett.

Dunn’s name is all over the Baylor, Big 12 and NCAA recordbooks and leader boards. You want scoring? In addition to the records above, Dunn leads the Big 12 and is among the top 15 in the nation at 20.8 points per game. You want 3-pointers? He’s the active career leader and No. 1 in the nation this season among all Division I players and tied for 14th all-time. Dunn long ago set the Baylor career record and needs just 12 more 3-pointers to become the Big 12’s career leader, and he has made at least one 3 in a school-record 39 straight games.

As the Bears enter the stretch drive, Baylor will need Dunn’s production to make another NCAA Tournament run. The good news? Bear fans have three more chances to see Dunn play at home, including the big ESPN College Gameday matchup here vs. Texas to end the regular season March 5. (BU’s two remaining road games, at Missouri and Oklahoma State, will both be televised on ESPN2.)

    Sic ’em, Lace!
