• Alum’s script turned into Hallmark Channel original film for Christmas

If you were flipping channels Saturday night and settled on the Hallmark Channel, you probably didn’t realize you were watching the work of a Baylor graduate.

Over the weekend, Hallmark debuted Battle of the Bulbs, a comedy about two former best friends — played by Daniel Stern (Home Alone, City Slickers) and Matt Frewer (best known for portraying Max Headroom in the 1980s) — who find themselves in an all-out war to win the town’s Christmas decorating contest. (See the trailer below.)

The script for the Hallmark original was written by W. Paul Thompson, BBA ’87, who belongs to an extended Baylor family that includes his father, wife and siblings. The film will air again Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on Hallmark; check your local listings for times.

    Sic ’em, Paul!
