• Baylor fans rising up in record numbers — now let’s keep it up!

    Floyd Casey Stadium

Before the 2010 football season started, we shared President Starr’s request for Baylor fans to “Rise Up” and pack Floyd Casey Stadium. Great job so far! Nearly 43,000 fans turned out for the Bears’ home opener (the third-largest opening-day crowd in BU history and the largest-ever for a lower division opponent), and almost 41,000 more showed up in week two. The combined 83,674 fans at Baylor’s first two home games mark the best total since 1975.

Taking it a step further, Bear fans have also traveled well as Baylor headed north to Fort Worth and then south to Houston the past two weeks. Television shots showed there was plenty of green and gold scattered among the purple at TCU, and Baylor fans simply overwhelmed the Rice faithful this past Saturday. (I’ve been told that as much as two-thirds of the crowd of 23,000 was rooting for Baylor in Houston; sound familiar?) Take a look at these photos from the first four games of the season and give yourself a pat on the back, Baylor Nation.

Now let’s keep it up! With the Bears at 3-1 entering Big 12 Conference play this weekend, Saturday’s game against Kansas (11 a.m. kickoff at Floyd Casey) is a big one. Besides being the conference opener, it’s also Youth Day 2010 (discounted tickets for FCA and youth groups), and the game is being nationally televised on FSN. Let’s again give our Bears a true home field advantage!

    Sic ’em, Bears!
