Following the news last week that the Big 12 Conference is indeed moving forward, Baylor President Ken Starr released the video message below to say thank you to all the members of the Baylor Nation who got involved, leading in large part to the “tsunami of political pressure” which the commissioner of the Pac-10 Conference said was so important in keeping the Big 12 (and its Texas members) together.
President Starr also makes an important point: The Big 12 is safe for now, but that doesn’t mean we (as members of the Baylor family) can drop our guard or get comfortable. Our continued support is needed, especially in filling the stands when the football season kicks off Sept. 4 (season tickets are available now!). We also need to think about all our students and supporting the endowed scholarship program at Baylor, to make sure that BU remains accessible to all those for whom our alma mater is a good fit.
