• Student’s documentary calls Christians to take a deep look at their faith

Two years ago, Baylor students Will Bakke and Lawson Hopkins joined two other students from Texas A&M on a search across the nation to learn more about American religious beliefs than just what they had been exposed to growing up in the Bible Belt. The quartet compiled what they learned into a documentary, One Nation Under God, that has since been released on DVD.

Now, Bakke and three friends have released a follow-up film, Beware of Christians. The documentary takes a similar approach to One Nation Under God, but this time, the four friends toured 10 European cities in an effort to re-examine what it means to follow Jesus. Bakke describes the film as “a radical, honest, look at Christian habit that calls Christians everywhere to get past a label and take on a lifestyle.”

A senior film and digital media major, Bakke first put what he’s learned at Baylor to use by launching Bearly There Productions, developing short comedy sketches for which he was named one of MTV’s “Top 25 Filmmakers on Campus.” After graduation, he hopes to pursue a full-time career in the film industry.

    Sic ’em, Will!
