I often wondered what my professors did with their summers. Obviously some teach summer school; others dive into their research or lead camps here in Waco for high school students. Some take the opportunity to lead mission trips or studies abroad; others use this time to go overseas for their own studies or to share their expertise with the national media.
But there’s time for rest and relaxation, too — or, if you’re philosophy professor Dr. Trent Dougherty, for a not-so-leisurely 750-meter swim, 15-kilometer bike ride and 5-kilometer run.
Dougherty and his wife, Sarah, competed in the XTERRA Sport competition held in conjunction with the XTERRA South Central Championship this past weekend at Waco’s Cameron Park. Dr. Dougherty finished 10th overall and second in his age group, while Sarah placed 22nd overall and first in her age group.
Sic ’em, Dr. Dougherty!
