• Hart named World Coach of the Year by IAAF

Clyde HartBefore we get too far into 2010, we’ve got one more 2009 year-end honor to relay… Longtime Baylor track and field coach Clyde Hart, BBA ’56, was named the World Coach of the Year by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Hart, of course, is best known for helping Baylor become known as “Quartermile U” for its success in the 4×400 relay and for coaching Olympic gold medalists (and Baylor Bears) Michael Johnson, BBA ’90, and Jeremy Wariner. Now retired from his head coaching position at Baylor (but still involved as the program’s Director of Track and Field), Hart has resumed coaching duties for Wariner after a brief split and also coaches Sanya Richards, the world champion in the 400 meters and the IAAF’s Female World Athlete of the Year.

    Sic ’em, Coach Hart!
