• Baylor video productions beat out ESPN, CBS for national awards

Floyd Casey Stadium scoreboardIt’s human nature to take for granted what we see or experience regularly. For instance, while living in Philadelphia, I grew accustomed to having great mom-and-pop pizza parlors on seemingly every corner. Moving back to Texas, I realized that sadly, that’s not the norm around here. (Instead, we get great barbecue, which was difficult to come by up north.)

I realized this past year that I take for granted the excellent video production we as Baylor fans enjoy at home football, basketball, baseball and softball games. Visit around, and you’ll find that’s not the norm. Outside groups, too, are recognizing the great work BaylorVision does. In February, it was the Information Display and Entertainment Association naming BaylorVision the top university video board display in the nation.

This month, it’s the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Sports Video Group honoring BaylorVision with three awards, including the College Sports Video of the Year for their work on the opener for Baylor men’s basketball games. In that category, Baylor beat out submissions from CBS, ESPN, Penn State and Miami; in winning the other two awards, BaylorVision staff topped entries from Notre Dame and Ohio State.

    Sic ’em, BaylorVision!
