• Baylor Board welcomes impressive class of five new Regents

    Pat Neff HallWith the end of the school year (graduation is this afternoon and tomorrow) comes the end of several Regents’ terms on Baylor’s Board. With that, on behalf of the Baylor family, we say a hearty “thank you” to outgoing Regents Donell Teaff, Carl Bell, Dr. Phil Lineberger, Dr. Belinda Reyes, Jim Turner, and former chair Dr. Howard Batson.

    We also want to welcome Baylor’s newest Regents, a stellar team of volunteers that includes Baylor graduates and friends with long tenures of prior service to Baylor:

    * Robert (Bob) E. Beauchamp, president and CEO of BMC Software Inc., one of the 20 largest software companies in the world;
    * Linda Jean Brian, BA ’69, part-time assistant director of education at Sylvan Learning Center in Amarillo (Brian was appointed by the Baptist General Convention of Texas);
    * David Harlan Harper, BBA ’88, partner/attorney and chair of Litigation North Section, Haynes and Boone LLP, annually one of the top firms on the AmLaw 100;
    * Ronald Dean Murff, BBA ’75, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of Guaranty Financial Group Inc., the second largest publicly traded financial services holding company in Texas;
    * Kathy Wills Wright, BSEd ’85, MSEd ’88, president of Legacy Educational Foundation and former acting director of the USA Freedom Corps, an organization created by President George W. Bush to connect volunteers with service opportunities.

    This impressive group of Bears includes the CEO of an S&P 500 company, the CFO of one of the top 50 financial services companies in the U.S., and a former special assistant to the President of the United States of America!
