• Three Bears benefitting from Jackie Robinson Foundation

The Jackie Robinson StoryWednesday, teams all across Major League Baseball celebrated Jackie Robinson on the 62nd anniversary of the day that the eventual Hall of Famer became the first 20th-century African American to play in the big leagues.

As part of the Jackie Robinson Day celebration at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, the Texas Rangers honored Baylor alumna Gabrielle Tyler for her work with the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Tyler is one of over 1,300 young adults whose education was made possible by scholarship assistance from the foundation; today, she serves as president of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Alumni Association.

A pair of Baylor students are today benefitting from the foundation’s assistance, as well. Sophomores MaKenzie Hodge and Prince Adotama have each been named Jackie Robinson Scholars; Hodge is sponsored by the Rangers, while Adotama is sponsored by the Houston Astros.
