• Baylor hosts 5,000 Hispanic youth for BGCT’s Congreso

Congreso 2009Earlier this month, Baylor served as the host for Congreso, a gathering of nearly 5,000 Hispanic youth sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT). Students heard from speakers on a variety of subjects, with breakout sessions ranging from “What if God had a MySpace?” to “Finding God in Pop Culture,” as well as enjoying concerts and Diadeloso-style activities. In addition to hosting the three-day event, Baylor staff led sessions on “Paying for College,” “Job Interviewing” and “Planning for Graduate Work.” Participants also spent an afternoon volunteering at more than 200 mission projects across Waco, ranging from trash clean-up to community outreaches.

What a great opportunity to both introduce so many students to Baylor and supporting the BGCT’s efforts to impact these young people’s lives!

    Sic ’em, Congreso!
