HP CEO, a 1979 grad, on cover of Fortune Magazine

Posted by The Baylor Proud Team in Alumni, Extraordinary Stories, Honors

Mark HurdA quick perusal of the magazine rack at your local bookstore this week will find the face of a Baylor Bear staring back at you. Mark Hurd, CEO of Hewlett-Packard and often recognized as one of the top CEOs in the world, graces the cover of the current issue of Fortune Magazine as part of the issue’s package on “The World’s Most Admired Companies.”

Inside, a seven-page feature takes an in-depth look at the 1979 graduate’s management style and how he’s made HP the world’s biggest technology company. The story goes all the way back to his time at Baylor, as the author interviewed his former fraternity partner and varsity tennis partner, Carl Good. Definitely a good read — not only for business people, but for anyone interested in one of Baylor’s more prominent alumni. After all, chances are good you’ve got an HP computer, printer or calculator somewhere around your house.

Sic ’em, Mark Hurd!
