Blowout win over A&M football highlights weekend of athletic success
Well that was certainly a fun weekend for fans of Baylor athletics!
If you weren’t following along, here’s what you missed:
* Baylor football blew out Texas A&M, 41-21, on Senior Day at Floyd Casey Stadium. The game wasn’t even as close as the score indicated, as the Aggies scored two touchdowns late after the Bears were up 41-7 in the third quarter. The victory gave head coach Art Briles a chance to throw his cap into the crowd for the fourth time this season.
* Women’s basketball, ranked 17th nationally, upset No. 2 Stanford in Waco, 81-65. Those in attendance also got to honor alumna Sophia Young, now an all-WNBA player, who had her jersey number retired at halftime.
* Men’s basketball, meanwhile, beat Paul Quinn College 108-50 in the Bears’ first game of the season. Freshman forward Quincy Acy had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in his first collegiate game.
* The women’s cross country team hosted and finished second in their NCAA Regional meet, earning an at-large bid for the NCAA Championships later this month.
* Oh, and ground was broken on the Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility.
