• Baylor and the Super Bowl

Willie AndrewsIf you’re not sure who to root for in this weekend’s big game, consider rooting for the Patriots — specifically, for former all-Big 12 safety Willie Andrews, who played at Baylor from 2002-05 and is now in his second season with New England. Houston Chronicle reporter (and Baylor alum) John McClain caught up with Andrews during Media Day this week to talk about the Super Bowl and Baylor football; take a look.

While we’re talking football, Andrews’ teammate on the Patriots, receiver Wes Welker, had some nice things to say about new Baylor head coach Art Briles, who tutored Welker at Texas Tech:

“He was just a highly motivating type coach and a great guy and just knew football inside and out,” Welker said. “He loved it and kind of shared that with you and built up your confidence. … He’s going to do great things there at Baylor.”

    Sic ’em, Baylor football!
