• Students brave the elements to show their support

    Bear Pit

Last week on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption,” host Michael Wilbon commented that “They don’t care this much about basketball, for the most part, at Baylor,” holding his thumb and index finger a half-inch apart.

I think the hundreds of students who stood in line Friday outside the Ferrell Center through rain and temperatures in the 30s would beg to differ. (Click here for photos.) So would the couple hundred more who were lined up at 8 a.m. Saturday for tickets to the men’s game that afternoon — even though the ticket office wouldn’t open for another five hours.

Couple that show of interest with the fans who showed up at 2 a.m. Wednesday night to welcome back the team from College Station, the 20% of the student body that was at Saturday’s men’s game, and the fact that the Bear Pit has quickly become the largest student organization on campus, and I think it’s safe to say that Baylor’s students care about basketball. (The Bear Pit’s looking good on SI.com, by the way.)

The No. 6 Lady Bears are home tonight at 7 p.m. against No. 25 Texas; let’s keep the support coming!

    Sic ’em, spirited Baylor students!
